Harmony College Northwest was a smashing success! Barbershoppers from around the Northwest converged in Tacoma for a weekend of coaching, learning from world class teachers, and lots of fun and singing.

A handful of SeaChordsmen participated in Harmony Platoon to kick off the weekend, by learning five songs and participating in low-stakes (and very fun) random-draw quartet singing with two dozen other singers from the district. We performed as a chorus for all of the weekend attendees, above. Here are our singers in quartet action:

Chris and Tyler:

A happy, happy birthday (and thank you for the delicious cake!) to John, who celebrated his birthday during rehearsal this week.

Here he is directing part of the closing song:

Johns fiancé joined us at afterglow, and we even got her to sing a tag. Actually, she volunteered! Check it out:

We've been having an incredible time the last couple of weeks, and are now partway through our (re)Discover Your Voice program. We've had over half a dozen guests learning about barbershop from Ted of Ted's Voice Academy, we've been prepping for Folklife, and the chorus has gotten some inspiring coaching from Ted for our upcoming summer show.

Chris S teaching a tag in preparation for Folklife:

A dozen or so members of the chorus gathered last weekends (thank you to Dave Rice for hosting!) to sing together in quartets. We spent some time working on some chorus repertoire, too, polishing chunks of this year's contest songs in preparation for Tuesday's rehearsal. Here are a few chorus member singing part of one song:

Come join us sometime and have fun singing!

We had a great rehearsal this week, doing our first run-through of the script for our upcoming Summer Show. It's gonna be a ton of fun, and we hope you've got the date saved to join us! Saturday, June 22 at 2pm. Be there or be square! Thanks so much to Sound Harmony Chorus for joining us for our big joint rehearsal!!

Afterglow is always a blast -- here we are singing a new tag:

The chorus had an exceptional time at this week's rehearsal, when Dane came to visit and coach us on a couple of songs for our upcoming summer show. Did we have fun? Yes. We even encouraged him to some to afterglow and sing some more. He taught a tag, and we also learned the Terry tag "Far Too Long." Here are a couple of groups singing the tag, including Dane.

We loved having Rick join us for this week's rehearsal -- and afterglow -- while visiting from The Sounds of Aloha chorus! Rick sang some new and some familiar songs, and taught a tag at afterglow, too.

Here's a quartet singing the tag Though You're Gone. Lead / bass Billy is on baritone... Lead Greg is on tenor... Bass John is on lead, and guest bass Rick is singing bass. We like to switch things up!

Join us again, Rick -- it was great singing with you!

We had a great time this weekend, polishing not only our quartet skills, but also spending some practice time on our two contest songs for this year.

Thanks to Dave for hosting, and thanks for all the great singing!
