The SeaChordsmen were so happy to participate - for the 36th time - in Figgy Pudding, the annual caroling competition to benefit the Pike Market Senior Center & Food Bank! We could not have had more fun, and things could not have gone better! We came in second place for the Best Choral Group category, and we send a hearty congratulations to the first place chorus from Mount Vernon High School. Did you miss all the fun? We were so glad to be back performing at Seattle Sings!
We were excited to have some amazing guests with us for our first guest night in preparation for our holiday concert. We had ten folks join us and start learning our two guest songs -- Warm and Fuzzy and Little Saint Nick. Our directors led us through some of the ways barbershop singing is different from much other group and choral singing, and our guests seemed to catch on quick, while having a good time.

It's been a packed few weeks for the SeaChordsmen, but one highlight was our performance in the Evergreen District Competition in Federal Way on October 22. Our contest set was:
We've worked hard over the last few years, and we've had some incredible coaches come work with us, too. Our directors' dedication paid off -- our scores were much improved from our last competition performance in 2019.

Seattle Sings was back this year after taking two years away from in-person events due to the Coronavirus. Virtual shows were a fantastic stop-gap, but it was amazing to perform in person again! This year's festival boasted a great lineup, celebrating the depth and breadth of the singing opportunities available in the Seattle Area!

We've been having some great rehearsals lately -- we made good progress in the run-up to our competition in late October, and we did great there, making our directors very proud. We've had a bunch of different guests over the last handful of weeks, and have started working on holiday songs, too. There's so much going on and it's all fun and interesting, and every week is exciting!

It's been three years since the last time the Evergreen District competition took place, and we got to join together as choruses to sing. The photo above is from the last district competition in Spokane in 2019. Needless to say, we're all very to finally be back to an in-person barbershop competition! The first round of the quartet competition is in the books -- congratulations to the three SeaChordsmen-affiliated quartets who competed on Friday evening! Now it's time for the chorus competition. We're so excited to finally be back to an in-person barbershop competition! This weekend (October 21-22), choruses and quartets from around the northwest will convene in Federal Way to compete together for the first time in three years. We've been working on our songs for a long time and are excited to get together to celebrate!

Last night we performed our final Traveling Road Show of the season on the main stage at the Queen Anne Farmers Market. The weather was perfect and we had a blast singing to lots of families and other folks from the community.
