In Honor of long-time chorus member Jim Smith

This weekend, members of the chorus were honored to gather with the family of Jim Smith for his memorial service. During the service, we learned more about Jim and his many hobbies and the adventures of his life. We were lucky to have Jim in the SeaChordsmen ranks for over 60 years, where he took on all kinds of chorus leadership roles. He contributed so much to the SeaChordsmen, and we won't be the same without him.

Singing Valentines - it's a wrap!

It's official - our inaugural, live online Singing Valentines was an unmitigated success! We sold out of our Singing Valentines, raising nearly $1,000! Quartets had so much fun singing to recipients all around the world, and we were happy that the feedback was so positive.

Again, giant kudos to Jim and Chris for the planning, the prep, and the endurance race that was the day-of logistics to pull this out without a hitch. We look forward to more online performances in the future!

Barbershopper of the Year!

Congratulations to Chris Saether for being chosen as this year's Barbershopper of the Year! Chris has been a dogged and creative problem solver over the course of the pandemic, exploring different ways to keep the SeaChordsmen singing safely. From our in-car rehearsals (carbershopping) to our incredible "holiday postcard" to our recent live-over-Zoom Singing Valentines, Chris has been at the forefront of the efforts to keep us singing, and the SeaChordsmen have hardly missed a beat. Thanks for all the microphone testing, cord wrangling, and mixer managing, Chris. And congratulations!

The SeaChordsmen were so happy to participate in this year's virtual Mini-Figgy Pudding. Cheers to guests Damon, Dillon, Robert, and Sam for joining in their first public performance with the chorus.

The Seattle SeaChordsmen are proud to support Scout Troup 72 each year by helping out at their Christmas tree lot. Proceeds from the sales of these trees go to support the Scouts, the Queen Anne Food Bank, and the Seattle SeaChordsmen. Word on the street is that these are some of the best trees to be found in Seattle!

Looking for your tree for this year? Head to the Safeway on upper Queen Anne -- you'll find the lot on the north side of the store. Thanks for your support!

Holiday Postcard - a sneak peek!

We know - it's BARELY November, but the Seattle SeaChordsmen have been hard at work pulling the pieces together for our 2021 Holiday Postcard -- Warm and Fuzzy. Here you can see just a small taste of what's to come, with storyboarding and choreography by our own creative mastermind Jim Durand, and music mixing already in process by the infinitely patient Saulius Matas. Yes, there will be Santa hats and cheesy smiles! Here we are briefly unmasked for some short, ultra-low-respiratory lip synching. Keep your eyes on our YouTube channel for more info as we come closer to the holidays!

The Chorus celebrates longtime member Jim Smith

A contingent of singers gathered at Cogir on Queen Anne on Sunday to celebrate the 93rd birthday of SeaChordsman Jim Smith. We surprised him (with the help of his niece), and cajoled him into joining us for some quartet and large-group singing. Congratulations to Jim on marking his 66th year as a SeaChordsman, and happy birthday!!

It's official -- Figgy Pudding 2020 is in the books. Sure, it didn't look like the Figgy Pudding event of years past, but a nice chunk of change was raised for the Pike Market Senior Center & Food Bank -- especially crucial this year. The Seattle SeaChordsmen were honored to be involved in the raising of funds and the spreading of holiday cheer! We performed two songs:
