It wasn't his first time, and it won't be his last time, we hope, but Alexander Koller visited the SeaChordsmen this week to coach us during our rehearsal this week. We did lots of fun stuff -- tons of snapping, learned a visual cue to help us think about landing on the top side of a blown pitch, along with exercises designed to remind us that we can control our singing tempo ourselves so that Elizabeth doesn't have to waste her energy on it. It was great! We got Alexander to come to afterglow with us, too -- here he is singing the tag Carolina In My Mind with some SeaChordsmen:

We love sharing harmony, and are always excited to have guests join us for a rehearsal.
Check out this week's guests -- we had a ton of fun singing with them, and we'd love to sing with you, too!
Details on visiting a rehearsal are here. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Check out this pirate crew! They're around and about this summer, performing their pirate-themed road show to crowds in the Seattle area. We're having so much fun with our show this year, and we're getting to try out a whole new look, too.
Here's one of our road show songs:
We had a blast at Folklife again this year! Cheers to Dave for charming the audience, and to five chorus members who volunteered to teach a tag (Tyler, Topher, Frances, Gidon, and Chris). Thanks to Sound Harmony for joining us and wowing the crowd with Ain't Nobody's Business.
And here we are performing Cheek to Cheek:
We had a ton of fun doing our first official Traveling Road Show of the year with our friends at University House in Issaquah! We visited them with last year's Road Show, and they were excited to have us back.
Here we are performing one of our show songs, All I Have to Do is Dream:
Thanks for having us, University House!
If you know, you know! After a long COVID hiatus, quarteting is back and Dave's house! Here's a snippet of four SeaChordsmen singing Wild Irish Rose:
This monthly quartet activity is such a fun way to try out quartet singing. Thanks to Dave for hosting!!
The Seattle SeaChordsmen spent the afternoon of May 17 performing in the Syttende Mai parade in Ballard, to celebrate Norwegian Independence Day! We had a ton of fun. Here we are serenading one of the members of the crowd:
Afterward, we got together for drinks and more singing, as per usual. Check out these happy afterglow-ers!
It's official - our spring and summer performance season is off to the races! Our first outing of the year was at the Queen Anne Farmers Market preview day. We did our first public sing-through of this year's pirate-themed Road Show, and it was fun! Check out these photos!
Some pre-show warm-up:
Some shots of this great chorus!
Big news from the chorus... After over four years in a co-director setup, the Board of Directors has made a decision to change our structure. Moving forward, we'll operate with one director, as Elizabeth takes on solo directing responsibilities and Melanie steps away from the SeaChordsmen.
Change of any kind is hard, of course. The bonds created when folks create music together are strong, and a change like this stings. Factor in Melanie's thoughtfulness, magnetic and engaging style, and overall kindness, and you have a recipe for heartbreak. We will not be the same without her energy.
This week, the paperwork for new member Marlese came through, and we sang her in officially! We love to honor new members as they join the chorus... We've realized that occasionally paperwork goes astray, though, and members who have transferred from other choruses don't have the same paperwork flow that prompts our welcoming ceremony. So this week we made up for lost time, and officially welcomed Marlese, along with some other new-ish folks and some "transfer students" -- Warwick, John, C.C., Kristi, Mindy, and Frances! Our chorus is so much richer in the last year for all of this new energy -- welcome, singers!!
